Integrity, sound judgment and a deep sense of fairness.
Those three elements define the work of the more than 300 employees across Canada who work at the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy (OSB), a special operating agency associated with Industry Canada.
While our collective role is to protect the integrity of the bankruptcy and insolvency system, our mission is much more critical: to ensure public confidence in the marketplace.
For debtors (those who owe money) and creditors (those who are owed money), we make the bankruptcy and insolvency process easier to understand and provide them with the information they need to best manage their situations.
We also licence and regulate trustees, the people who administer bankruptcies and insolvencies, and ensure they comply with all aspects of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
