    Please note the following changes to our service standards during the coming holiday season. These changes will be in effect from December 15, 2008 to January 16, 2008 inclusively. Please note, however, that all of our offices will be closed on December 25 and 26, 2008 and on January 1, 2009.
  • 2008-09-09 Corporations Canada wishes to inform you that Bill C-62, An Act respecting not-for-profit corporations and certain other corporations, died on the Order Paper on September 7, 2008, following the dissolution of Parliament for a general election. This means that Bill C-62 will proceed no further through Parliament.
  • 2008-09-03 As part of the Paper Burden Reduction Initiative to reduce the number of federal administrative requirements and information obligations for businesses and of our ongoing commitment to make our forms and policies more user-friendly.
  • 2008-06-13 Corporations Canada wishes to inform you that on June 13, 2008, Bill C-62, An Act respecting not-for-profit corporations and certain other corporations, was tabled in the House of Commons. The goal of the Bill is to repeal the Canada Corporations Act and replace it with a modern corporate governance regime for the corporations governed by its provisions.
  • 2008-06-09 As part of our on-going commitment to make our policies more streamlined, we wish to advise you that Policy 2.7: Request for Corrections of CBCA Certificates has been revised to reduce the requirements to correct an error when the error made can only be attributed to Corporations Canada staff.
  • 2008-06-01 The purpose of this notice is to advise stakeholders that Corporations Canada has proposed a number of regulatory amendments to align the Canada Business Corporations Regulations, 2001 and Canada Cooperatives Regulations requirements for forms of proxy and proxy circulars with the relevant parts of National Instrument 51-102 – Continuous Disclosure Obligations.
    • Regulatory Impact Analysis Statement Ensure that the Canada Business Corporations Regulations, 2001 (CBCR) and Canada Cooperatives Regulations (Coop Regulations) requirements for forms of proxy and proxy circulars are aligned with provincial and territorial corporate and securities law requirements, as set out in the relevant parts of National Instrument 51-102 – Continuous Disclosure Obligations. In addition, correct errors, such as language, in the CBCR and Coop Regulations sections related to forms of proxy and proxy circulars. Further, assist the Government in meeting its target of reducing paper burden on small business by 20%.
